Bryn Egwys

Bryn Egwys is a 17th-century house featuring roughcast render with rock-faced stone dressings and a slate roof that has axial and rear gable stacks. The design resembles an Elizabethan house, with a two-storey main range that has three gables and 'Tudor' detailing. A central single-storey porch includes a four-centred archway with a swept hood mould, and it is dated with a monogram in the apex of the coped gable. On either side of the gables, the ground floor windows consist of paired mullioned and transomed lights, with ogee arches in segmental heads above the upper lights, while the upper windows are paired two-light mullions. A wide central dormer above the porch features paired two-light mullioned windows. There is a four-light mullioned and transomed stair window in the right-hand gable return, along with paired mullioned and transomed windows in the rear wing. The service wing on the left-hand return has various two and three-light mullioned windows.

Internally, the house is arranged with a wide central entrance hall and a spinal corridor running along the rear of the main range. The main staircase, which leads off to the right, is marked by a moulded timber arch and features turned balusters and heavy newels, with some stained glass in the stair window. A secondary staircase is located to the left.
