Description
The barn at Grianllyn Farm, located on the west side, is a Grade II listed building. It features limewashed rough random rubble and a slate roof. The main barn, which is cruck-framed internally, is situated on the left, while a cow-house or stable is on the right. The main barn is the older of the two structures; its cruck-framed interior suggests it may date from the 17th century, although the exterior appears to be from the early 19th century. The barn has opposed entrances towards the center and smaller openings on either side. There is a lean-to extension to the right of the main entrance, along with a narrower doorway leading to the cow-house or stable. The interior of the main barn consists of five bays with heavy crucks of two types: to the south, there are two full crucks that spring from ground level, supported by spurs to wall posts, halved and pinned collars, and additional timbers for bracing. To the north, there is a pair of raised crucks, similarly jointed, with spurs to wall posts and halved and pinned collars. The wall posts are elbow-jointed with extra rafters to support the current roof line. The cow-house is a later addition, comprising three bays with king post trusses typical of the 19th century.
