Description

Llwynau Farmhouse is a building constructed of roughcast rubble on part boulder foundations, dating from an unspecified period. It features an old slate roof with tall chimneys that retain their original cornicing, capping, and weathercoursing. The chimney on the right has a projecting, gabled breast. The entrance is off-centre to the left, showcasing cyclopean flanking stones, with a modern glazed door. Above the door, the name 'Llwynau' is inset in white pebbles. There are modern, out-of-character windows on both floors flanking the entrance. To the left at the rear, there is a later catslide out-shut with further modern windows. A small primary window opening is located on the west gable, and at the apex, the date 1950 is also picked out in white pebbles. The east gable has blocked primary windows flanking the chimney breast, which suggest the presence of stair and closet lights; these windows have exposed stopped-chamfered lintels and were formerly wooden-mullioned. To the right, there is a modern rubble lean-to with a corrugated iron roof and doors.

The farmhouse retains a cross-passage plan-form. Inside, there is a fine post-and-panel screen partition featuring two Tudor-headed doorways with moulded edges to the studs. The ground floor includes good chamfered ceiling beams with pyramid stops. The roof structure has been preserved, and it is believed that the hall may have originally been open with a storeyed parlour.
