Dolawel

Dolawel is a row of houses located at Nos 1-12 Heol Tan-y-bryn in Abergynolwyn. These buildings were constructed from irregular coursed slate rubble and feature slate roofs with red roll clayware ridges, as well as deep eaves and verges. Each house has two storeys and consists of a single bay with a double depth plan, including a lateral passage leading to the entrance. The entrance features a four-panelled door with raised mouldings and a narrow overlight above it. The ground floor openings have flush stone lintels, and each floor is fitted with sixteen paned unhorned sash windows, with the upper floor windows being smaller and narrower. The chimneys are grouped on the party walls. At the rear, there is a regular range of two-storey slated service wings, which are whitewashed on the sides and have slate roofs with red roll ridges. There are also lean-to additions at the back. No 1 is particularly well preserved, retaining its original features throughout and has two steps leading up to the front door.
