Description
5 Heol Tan-y-bryn is part of a row of houses numbered 1 to 12 on Heol Tan-y-bryn in Abergynolwyn. The houses are constructed from irregular coursed slate rubble and feature slate roofs with red roll clayware ridges, deep eaves, and verges. Each house is two storeys high and has a single bay with a double depth plan, including a lateral passage leading to the entrance. The entrance features a four-panelled door with raised mouldings and a narrow overlight. The ground floor openings have flush stone lintels, and each floor has sixteen-paned unhorned sash windows, with the upper floor windows being smaller and narrower. The chimneys are grouped on the party walls. At the rear, there is a regular range of two-storey service wings that are slated and whitewashed on the sides, also featuring a slate roof with red roll ridges. There are lean-to additions at the rear. Notably, the original door has been replaced with a 1930s-style door that includes an oval light, and the ground floor window has been replaced without glazing bars.
