Description
Sunday Newsagents is an irregular, angular corner building dating from the 19th century, with its gable end facing the square. It is one and a half storeys tall and features one window. The exterior is constructed from coursed rubble masonry and topped with a steeply pitched quarry slate roof that has oversailing eaves, deep verges, and plain bargeboards. There is a stone stack on the rear pitch.
The gable end has a 16-pane sash window with a slate lintel. The left corner of the building is canted to align with the street, featuring a shallow upper sash with a 9-pane window set beneath the eaves. The ground floor has a continuous modern fascia, with modern shop windows facing Upper Smithfield Street and Smithfield Square, alongside a modern door.
