Description
Brynglas Railway Station is a 19th-century building constructed from sawn slate laid in lime mortar, topped with a thick slate roof. The structure is a single rectangular building measuring approximately 6.75 by 3 meters externally. It features a wide opening facing the railway line, which has been partially blocked with smaller slate walling and includes a small ticket window that has since been blocked as well. The barge boards and the central vertical feature on the end gables have been renewed.
Originally, the building was a single room open to the roof. It was later modified with a cross partition made of sawn boarding, complete with cover strips over the joints, and a single door to create a separate store area from the waiting room. A timber bench runs along the rear wall of the waiting room, returning at the eastern end. Additionally, a later brick fireplace has been inserted against the rear wall of the ticket office, and the structure includes a tie beam truss.
