Description
The water lift pump at Rhyd-yr-onen is a cast iron structure featuring a 10.16 cm (4 inch) diameter pipe that has strengthening bands and rises to a widened, fluted top chamber. Attached to this chamber is a double curved arm and handle. At the top of the ascending pipe, the discharge pipe includes a scroll-shaped bucket hook. On the side of the chamber, there is a registration number and the manufacturer's badge on the shaft, which is topped with a lion crest. This may be associated with Norton Hamar or the Lion Foundry of Kirkentilloch, Scotland, which also manufactured the nearby kiosk. The pump is supported by two stay bars and a collar, and it has been recently painted.
