Description

The grave of Mary Jones features a granite headstone created by R R Davies of Tywyn. It has a gabled head and includes a rope margin, with a floral band engraved at the top. The headstone bears a long inscription in both Welsh and English, commemorating Mary Jones and her significant journey in 1800 to obtain a personal copy of the Bible. This headstone is placed on an inscribed plinth stone, which notes that it was erected by members of the Merionethshire Sunday Schools, likely around 1920. Surrounding the grave are cast iron railings with knob and fleur terminals. Within this enclosure is another headstone, set flat, dedicated to Mary, the widow of Thomas Lewis, a weaver from Bryn Crug, who passed away in 1864.
