Description

This is a water lift pump located near Pentre-Uchaf in Bryncrug, manufactured by Joseph Evans & Sons (Wolverhampton) Ltd. It features a cast iron vertical water pipe with a widened and fluted top chamber, which includes a spout with a scrolled bucket hook that has a leaf-like form where it connects to the main pipe. The rising pipe is embossed with a lion rampant, the trademark of Joseph Evans, along with raised lettering that is now illegible due to layers of paint. The pump is supported by a single stay bar and collar, and it has a fluted domed cap that includes a broken handle.
