Description

Bont Newydd is a bridge constructed from rubble. It features a single segmental arch made of voussoirs, supported by modern steel braces, with a cement-rendered soffit. There is a heavily-eroded inscription plaque on the upstream side. At the northern end, there is a rubble abutment on the downstream side. The roadway is ramped up at the northern end as it approaches the road junction, where the 1-meter high parapets have been partly rebuilt and include some concrete coping. On the downstream side, the parapet extends along the roadside for approximately 30 meters beyond the upstream side.
