Description
8 South Street, also known as Maes y Pandy, is a two-storey house with an attic and a cellar, featuring three windows on its front elevation. The front is angled back to align with the street line to the right of the doorway. The building is constructed of coursed rubble masonry and has a moderately pitched slate roof that is hipped over the canted section, with close eaves and verges. There are stone stacks and water tabling present.
The attic includes two hipped dormers that are fully integrated into the roof, with slate cheeks. The upper sashes of the windows are shallow and consist of nine panes. On the first floor, there is a 16-pane sash window located under the eaves, with similar windows on the ground floor, all featuring stone lintels. The cellar has openings below with iron grills.
At the center of the front elevation, there is a doorcase topped with a corniced canopy supported by plain entablature on foliate consoles, and sunk panelled pilasters. The door itself has six deep narrow flush panels and is accessed by slate steps that lead down to the street.
