Description

This is a late 18th century milestone associated with the turnpike road that was established in the 1790s. It is a roughly-shaped, round-headed slate stone set into a rubblestone boundary wall along the roadside. The stone is inscribed with "C. CURIG/ 7 M. 5 1/2 F./ CARNARVON/ 10 M." and features an Ordnance Survey bench-mark symbol beneath the inscription.
