Description
Nos 37 and 39 High Street is a large three-storey building from the late Georgian period, originally likely to have been town houses, now serving as shop premises. It is constructed from local rubble and features a slate roof with end chimneys and a central stack on the right, all adorned with plain cornicing and weathercoursing. The ground floor has modern shop fronts that are out of character with the building, including a recessed entrance for no. 37 on the right. The upper floors are symmetrical and have remained unaltered, showcasing five bays with sixteen-pane sash windows on the first floor and narrow six-pane sash windows on the second floor, positioned under the eaves, all with projecting stone sills. The interiors have been modernized for shop use. This building is part of a group that includes nos 37 and 39 High Street.
