Description

Trefaes Farm features two adjoining farm buildings that include a barn, cart shed, and granary, situated on a sloping site with a stable positioned at right angles, creating an L-shaped layout. The walls are constructed of roughly coursed field-stone, with larger boulder footings and quoins on the barn, all under graded slate roofs.

Facing the farmyard to the east, the main range has a wide cart-shed opening on the left, which is topped by a massive stone lintel. In the center, there is a split door leading into the barn, also under a stone lintel. Below the eaves, there are two small windows, and on the right side (the uphill end), there are two tiers of two ventilation strips. The downhill gable end features a blocked ventilation strip in the gable, while the uphill gable end, where the ground level is higher, has a boarded loft door. The rear side includes a small barn doorway with a split door similar to the one facing the yard, and to its right are external stone steps leading to a boarded granary door.

The stable has two split boarded doors, each with two-pane overlights and stone lintels. At the left end, there is a brick and rubble stone projection with a single-pitch roof. At the rear, where the ground level is higher, there is a boarded loading door to the right, positioned above the eaves. A similar doorway to the left of center has been replaced by a steel-framed window.
