Description

Bryn Blew is a one-and-a-half storey cottage built of whitened rubble, although much of the whitewash has now been removed. It has a renewed slate roof and features 19th-century end chimneys with plain cornices and weather-coursing. The central entrance has a recessed 19th-century boarded door, with an inscribed date on the projecting stone lintel above. On either side of the entrance are small 4-pane windows, and there are two 19th-century catslide dormers on the roof, each with 4-pane sash windows and slate-hung sides. A modern skylight is located at the center of the roof, and there is a 19th-century returned label on the right gable end above a modern window.

To the left of the cottage is a single-storey 19th-century byre addition that has been built into the slope of the hill. This addition is made of rubble and slate, with an entrance on the right and a 2-light window to the left. The left part of the window is part-glazed, while the right side is shuttered.

The cottage features rough-coped rubble forecourt walls, within which some stone flagging remains. Inside, there is a post-and-panel partition screen to the right of the entrance. To the left, there is the original wooden doorcase leading into the former hall space, which has chamfered details and long run-off stops. The hall also contains a large fireplace with a bressummer.
