Description
Gallt-y-Carw is a T-shaped building, with the main house range oriented east-west, and a 19th-century stable and cart house attached to the west. The structure is made of whitened rubble and features old slate roofs that are heavily grouted and have a gentle undulation. The house roof is half-hipped on the right side, while the adjoining range has a hipped roof on the left. There are two 19th-century offset chimneys with square bases and moulded cornices. The central entrance is on the north side and has a modern door. To the left of the entrance is a modern window, along with additional modern windows in two hipped dormers above, which break the eaves.
Originally, an arcaded hay barn occupied the end bay towards the east gable, but its arched openings—three on the gable and one on each side—are now enclosed, with the central and side openings glazed. Above the barn, there is a former seed loft featuring a similar arched window on the gable, all of which have plain labels. At the rear, there is a long eight-pane stair light, with its top contained within a hipped dormer. The building has an extruded corner on the right, at the junction with the barn range, which is in the form of a Ty bach.
The barn range includes an unglazed upper window on the north gable and five entrances along the long west side. Of these, the first, second, and fourth have modern boarded doors, while the third entrance is blocked. There is an unglazed window above the second entrance. On the far right, modern garage doors are present, with corrugated plastic glazing above. There is also an entrance on the east side with a modern door.
Inside, the ground-floor left room, which was formerly the hall, features a heavy chamfered beamed ceiling and a fireplace with a bressummer.
