Description
The pair of cowhouses at Pentre Farm date from the 19th century and are situated parallel to each other, built into a hillside and aligned approximately from south-west to north-east. The upper parts of their south-west gable ends are roughly level with the road. They are constructed from roughly coursed rubblestone and feature slate roofs with rough stone coping along the verges.
The south-eastern cowhouse is the longer of the two, with its north-eastern gable end projecting beyond that of the other cowhouse. It has a hatched opening on the south-west gable end, with stones projecting above to serve as a drip. There is a window in the upper part of the north-east gable end and two doorways in the north-western long wall.
The north-western cowhouse features an opening with a 20th-century window in the south-west gable end and a boarded door on the ground floor of the north-east gable end. Additionally, there is a boarded door, which appears to be modern, and a small blocked window in the long wall. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
