Description
Tan-y-Bryn is a terrace of three two-storey cottages located in Llandygai. The cottages were built as a group of three, with a central range flanked by cottages set into flush gables. The exterior walls are constructed of snecked slate-stone blocks, with the first floor slate-hung. A slate roof has deep verges. The central range features a slightly offset gabled stone and timber porch, containing a 20th century half-glazed door. A 3-light mullioned and transomed timber window sits immediately to the right of the porch. A 3-light flat-roofed dormer with a pediment has been altered with late 20th century plastic windows. Each gable features a 24-paned 4-light window on the first floor, alongside a handed 3-light timber mullioned and transomed window, and a smaller window on the ground floor. Gabled porches are present on each return; the left porch has a boarded door on the front wall, while the right porch is open to the front, with a boarded door on the side wall of the cottage—this arrangement is believed to be original. Prominent ridge stacks are located to the left and right, with stone bases and clustered brick diagonal shafts topped with moulded capping. The interior of the cottages was not inspected.
