Ficardy

Ficardy is a 2-storey building designed in the Gothic style, typical of much of the high Victorian architecture on the Penrhyn Estate. It is constructed from roughly coursed rubblestone, featuring quoins and tooled ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof with deep verges and carved purlin ends.

The front elevation presents an L-plan to the road, with a projecting gable on the left that includes a flush 2-storey porch at the angle with the main range. The windows are all timber casements with glazing bars and wedge-shaped lintels made of contrasting-coloured stone voussoirs. The ground floor of the main range features a 3-light mullioned and transomed window, with a 2-light window in a gabled dormer directly above it, breaking the eaves. The porch has another 2-light window on the first floor, and on the ground floor, it contains a recessed ribbed plank door set in a Tudor-arched surround. The left gable has a canted stone bay with a slab roof on the ground floor, topped by a mullioned and transomed window above.

There is an integral end stack to the right of the main range, which has a stone base and triple rebated brick shafts with moulded capping. A similar axial stack is located behind the ridge on the left, along with two further rebated stacks on the rear ranges. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
