Description
Tan-y-Bryn is a terrace of three two-storey cottages in Llandygai, forming a central range with flanking gabled sections, each representing a separate cottage. The cottages are constructed of snecked slate-stone blocks, with the first floor slate-hung; they have a slate roof with deep verges. The central range features a slightly offset gabled stone and timber porch which includes a 20th-century half-glazed door. To the right of the porch is a three-light mullioned and transomed timber window, and a central three-light flat-roofed dormer with a pediment now contains late 20th-century plastic windows. Each gable has a four-light window with 24 panes on the first floor, and a three-light mullioned and transomed timber window, alongside a smaller window on the ground floor. Gabled porches are present on each return; the left porch has a boarded door set into the front wall, while the right porch is open to the front with a boarded door set into the side wall of the cottage, an arrangement believed to be original. Prominent ridge stacks are located to the left and right of the central range, featuring stone bases and clustered brick diagonal shafts with moulded capping. The interior of the cottages was not inspected. These cottages form part of a group of three.
