Description
Dairy Cottage, built of snecked rubble with freestone dressings and a slate roof, is designed in a symmetrical Tudor-Gothic style. It is a single storey with an attic and features three bays highlighted by gables on the southwest front. The center gable is smaller and stepped, adorned with a coat of arms and the date. The end gables are similar, each with copings, apex, and corner finials. The outer gable windows are two-light, arch-headed, with labels above, while the ground floor has three-light windows and narrow windows flanking a central four-centred arched doorway. A distinctive lean-to verandah runs along the front and across each end, supported by chamfered timber posts, with arch-braced returns forming pointed arches. At the rear, there is a small gabled wing with an octagonal chimney stack.
Steps at the rear lead down to the upper walled garden, where the stone garden wall on the right forms the top wall of the Terraced Garden and bows inwards. A gateway with a wrought iron gate on the northeast side provides access to the trackway on the east side of the farm. The cottage was formerly a single storey internally before its conversion.
