Description
The Game Larder at Rhiwlas is an estate game store built in an L-plan layout, featuring a large square, storeyed larder block alongside a long single-storey range. The building is constructed of rubble with slate roofs; the larder block has a pyramidal roof topped with a metal louvre and lead flashings. This section includes five tiers of small square vents on the rear and sides, and three tiers on the front, all fitted with 19th-century cast iron grilles. The front elevation features a large central entrance with boarded double doors and a pegged frame, flanked by three-light wooden transmullioned windows, which have slate lintels and sills.
The adjoining single-storey range is set back from the front and aligns with the rear. It has similar vents on the left side, a central boarded door, and two flanking windows on each side, consistent with the larder block. Beyond a masonry break, there is an additional bay with a single cross-window. To the right, there are two more boarded doors; the far right door has a window to its left, while the left door has blocked flanking windows, both with chamfered door frames. The rear elevation features a central entrance leading to the additional bay, with squat flanking brick chimneys that have been reduced in height, and two tin vent louvres on the later section.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
