Description

Ysgol Treborth is a two-storey building with an attic, dating from the early 20th century. It features a rendered exterior with terracotta dressings and some rendered quoining, topped with hipped slate roofs behind parapets. The main northwest front has an asymmetrical design, highlighted by a tall cross wing on the left and three blocks that step back to the right, each with arris quoining. The first block has two window bays and contains the main entrance, which is set in a single-storey extension that projects from the left wing. This entrance features double doors set over steps, arched and flanked by Corinthian pilasters, with narrow architraved windows beside it leading into the main hall.

To the left, there is a two-storey canted bay adorned with pilasters, a pedimented first-floor window, and a moulded terracotta cornice string above which a pierced balustrade creates a balcony for the attic room. The windows throughout are primarily 4-pane sashes with moulded and keyed architraves. The three-bay end block has round-headed semi-dormers with stepped keystones and ball finials. The building also has rendered and panelled chimneys. The front and rear elevations extend southwest to encompass a walled service yard, with walls sloping down to the central entrance.

Inside, the entrance leads to a lobby paved with black-and-white marble, which opens into a spacious entrance hall. The main oak stair, featuring open turned balusters, is positioned against the rear wall. To the left, a wide corridor passes through an architraved arch, providing access to the original main reception rooms. Tall architraved and pedimented doors open directly from the hall into the dining room, which has a front bay window, and into a drawing room, with the doors set in deep panelled reveals. One notable feature is a good marble chimneypiece.
