Description

The structure is a rectangular plinth made of sandstone with a rock-faced finish, consisting of five courses. On top of this plinth is a single course of scappled pedestal that supports a large crouching lion made of eleven large pieces of limestone. The lion is carved in a bold Egyptian style and is positioned to gaze towards the southeast. Each lion cost £1,024 to create.
