Description
The structure is a lion statue located on the west side of the south entrance to the Britannia Bridge. It features a rock-faced sandstone plinth that is five courses high, topped with a single course of scabbled pedestal. The statue itself is a large limestone lion, crouching and gazing southeast. It is constructed from 11 large pieces of limestone and is carved in a bold Egyptian style. Each lion statue cost £1,024 to create.
