Description
The entrance gate piers to Britannia Park are made of limestone freestone, with iron gates. There is one pier on each side of the driveway, and a pedestrian gate on the south side. Low ashlar coped walls curve forward on each side to similar terminal piers, forming a semicircular approach. The piers are broached and chamfered on all four sides, with the chamfers increasing at each level until the piers become octagonal at the top, capped with a weathered finish. A sunk quatrefoil cross is carved on the main faces of the piers.
Currently, only the pedestrian gate remains in its original position. This gate is constructed from square bar iron and features bands of quatrefoils at the top, middle, and bottom, along with fleur-de-lys terminals.
