Description
The railway bridge at Ffridd-carw is a Grade II listed structure that carries a single track line over the access to the former Ffridd-carw farm, positioned on a high embankment. The bridge features alternating courses of dark red and blue bricks in its abutments, which are topped with margin-dressed rock-faced stone copings and dressings. The sides of the bridge are splayed and fall steeply to the coped end piers. It is constructed with two wide compound girders, one located under each line, and an arched iron plate spans between them, with the girders supported on corbels. Each side of the bridge has a guard rail made of rivetted angles that create an open lattice, with an angle top member extending to the coped and weathered abutment piers.
