Description

Parallel Farm Ranges and linking arched entrance at Glynllifon College Farm is a central U-shaped block dating from the 19th century. It features stables on the left (north) and a cowhouse on the right (south). These two structures are connected at their western end by a tall gabled gateway that has a round-arched entrance with brick voussoirs. The arch is flanked by full-height pilaster buttresses that are gabled at the top and have slate coping, similar to the main gable. This design resembles those found on buildings attributed to the 2nd Lord Newborough, such as the Workshops west of Glynllifon. The archway leads to a passage between the rear walls of the stables and cowhouse, both of which are accessed from their outer sides and feature rounded corners at their eastern ends.

The stables include alternating split boarded stable doors and large windows with small panes above slatted ventilators. There are modern yards added for pigs. The rear of the stables has small-pane pivot windows below the eaves, and the uphill (east) gable end features an oculus and a square-headed doorway.

The cowhouse has five segmental arched openings on its southern side, facing an enclosed area of the farmyard that is covered by a pair of semicircular corrugated iron roofs. The east gable end has an enlarged opening leading to the feed walk and an oculus in the gable. There is a central doorway on the inner side. The cowhouse has king-post roof trusses, but the interior was not accessible during the inspection.
