Description
Tyn-y-coed Isaf is a substantial farmhouse built over two storeys and an attic. The walls are made of uncoursed granite rubble, featuring large boulders at the foundation that graduate to smaller stones at the eaves. The openings have stone slab lintels, and the roof is covered with purple slate, featuring two squat end chimneys—one larger and made of stone on the left, and the other pebbledashed on the right. The front elevation is heavily offset to the right, with a three-window range on the right side and a single additional ground floor window to the left, set well in from the left wall. The windows are 6-pane hornless sash types, and there is a boarded door located in an added brick gabled porch.
On the rear north elevation, the fenestration is asymmetrical, with small casements on each floor to the left and right of a pair of stair-light casements, all offset to the left. There are two boarded doors located below and on each side of the stair light. Most windows are 4-pane, except for the 6-pane window on the first floor to the left. Additionally, there is a small 20th-century casement with brick jambs in the fireplace wall on the far right.
Inside, the ground floor features large cross-beams, an inglenook bressumer, and exposed ceiling joists. The rear stair is located opposite the front door and shows remnants of a former cross-passage partition. The first floor consists of four bays.
