Description

Sarn Helen and Bron Eifion are a pair of attached, late Georgian houses, two storeys high and originally three bays wide. They have a hipped slate roof with moulded eaves, and roughcast stacks are located centrally and to the right, with a pebble-dashed stack to the left. A veranda supported by wooden posts and featuring a replaced roof, hipped to the right, extends across the front. Each house has a central fielded-panel door, with glazed panels in the middle and upper sections of Bron Eifion, recessed within a round-headed arch. This arch is framed by thin Tuscan columns with moulded capitals, a blank entablature, and a neo-classical iron fanlight with radial glazing.

The front of the houses is rendered with scribed stucco and features replaced windows in their original openings, including canted bay windows on the left side. The veranda retains a cast iron valance. The attic has a flat-roofed dormer (20th century), a small-pane roof dormer on the left slope, and a long, raked dormer to the rear. The rear elevation also has replaced openings, including a central door, inserted French doors to the left, and a round-headed stair light at the centre.

Inside, the houses retain their original central plan, with principal rooms on the ground floor and a kitchen in the basement. The full-height open-well staircase has a wreathed handrail, plain balusters, and moulded tread ends. The basement includes the original kitchen on the left side, and the pantries retain original slate shelves.
