Description

Coed y Glyn is a late-Georgian style house that stands two storeys tall, with an attic and basement, featuring a symmetrical three-bay layout. The exterior is roughcast, topped with a hipped graded slate roof that has wide panelled and bracketed eaves, along with rendered end stacks and an added skylight on the left roof slope. The central doorway consists of double half-lit panelled doors with margin glazing, framed by an architrave with a cornice supported by consoles. The windows are set in moulded architraves; the outer bays on the ground floor have 15-pane hornless sash windows beneath hood moulds, while the upper storey features 12-pane hornless sashes. To the left side, there is a round-headed doorway that leads to a wall screening off the garden, and on the right side, there are boarded garage doors.

The rear elevation, which faces the garden, is also symmetrical and rendered. It has 12-pane horned sashes on the upper storey and 15-pane hornless sash windows on the lower storey, with a central half-lit door topped by an ironwork radial-glazed overlight. The basement contains sash windows on both sides.

The original layout of the house has been preserved, with principal rooms located on the ground floor and the kitchen in the basement. An entrance vestibule leads to a stair hall featuring a full-height open-well stair with a wreathed handrail, plain balusters, and moulded tread ends. The rooms on either side have slate chimneypieces with cast iron fireplaces adorned with decorative tile panels. Panelled doors with thin vertical ribs are retained throughout the house. In the basement, there is a late 19th-century cast iron range made by R Williams of Caernarfon.
