Description
Bryn Eisteddfod, which incorporates Bryn Menai, is a Regency style house built over two storeys with an attic. It features a symmetrical three-window front, with a scribed render finish and open arcaded barge boards topped with pendant finials. The slate roof is hipped at the rear and includes added skylights, with chimney stacks on both the right and left sides. The narrow central bay is recessed and has a replaced door beneath an added glazed canopy. Above this, there are French doors with overlights leading to a bracketed cast iron balcony. The outer bays are wider and gabled, containing small-pane tripartite sash windows on the lower storey, 2-light small-pane casements with overlights on the upper storey, and round-headed 2-light casements in the attic.
To the left side, there is a two-storey, two-window extension known as Bryn Menai, which has a hipped roof covered with replaced slates and a roughcast chimney stack on the left. The front of this extension features a doorway on the right with a replaced door and overlight, a 15-pane hornless sash window on the left, and 12-pane hornless sashes on the upper storey. Additionally, there is a doorway set back on the right side of the main house within an added wall.
The right side and rear of the house are pebble-dashed. The rear is composed of three bays, with a central gabled bay that projects forward and has a replaced door along with a stair light above. The right-hand bay contains a tripartite sash window similar to the front, while the left-hand bay has an enlarged window. In the upper storey, there are renewed 4-pane sash windows on both sides. The rear of Bryn Menai features a 4-pane sash window above a single-storey projection, along with an inserted small casement window in the upper left.
Inside, the house is symmetrically planned with a central vestibule that has an arch with panelled responds leading into the stair hall. The full-height open-well stair is notable for its wreathed handrail, plain balusters, and moulded tread ends. The rooms on both sides of the hall are adorned with classical chimneypieces, with the left room featuring fluted pilasters and a Greek key frieze, along with classical plaster ceiling cornices. The windows are fitted with panelled shutters, and the ground floor retains panelled doors, while the basement has boarded doors.
