Description
The gates and gate piers at the entrance to Uxbridge Square are a symmetrical arrangement featuring outer double gates and a central pedestrian gate. These gates are framed by four square piers made of coursed freestone, each topped with pyramidal caps that have a flat center, although part of one cap has fallen. The right-hand gates are missing, while the left-hand cast iron gates include decorative tracery on the dog bars, a disc frieze on the lock rail and below the top rail, and waisted finials. The top rail of these gates is swept up at the ends. The central gate is simpler in design, with closely spaced dog rails and waisted finials.
