Description
This property, 1 Heol Dulyn (Dublin Street), comprises a pair of 2-storey, 2-window houses constructed from blocks of quarried stone laid in regular courses, with a slate roof and roughcast end stacks. The house on the right-hand side is wider than its counterpart. The windows are topped with flat stone arches. Each property has a doorway on its inner side, featuring a half-lit door with vertical panels and small-pane glazing. The ground-floor windows are 16-pane hornless sashes, while the upper-floor windows are 12-pane hornless sashes. The outer upper-floor windows are located under individual gables, and the narrower inner windows, not aligned with the doorways below, are positioned under a single gable.
A projecting gabled bay originally formed a central feature, with a round pitching eye to the loft space. This bay is now largely concealed by a modern, 5-bay, 1-storey rendered garage. Only the original left-hand gable end of what were associated stables has survived.
A modern flat canopy is attached to the Royal Madoc Arms Hotel against the right-hand gable end. The rear of the property is primarily rendered and painted white, with a 2-storey wing. The side walls of this wing feature a boarded door and a small-pane sash window in the upper storey. The rear of the main range has small-pane sashes in each storey. A projecting rear wing of former stables, constructed of rubble stone, is located further to the right, and the roof has suffered significant fire damage. The property belongs to a group including 1-2 Dublin Street, Tremadog.
