Description
Bron Clydwr is a 2½-storey house constructed of rubble stone, featuring a slate roof and tall stone end stacks. The front of the house has a central half-lit panel door. To the left, there is an added conservatory, and to the right, French windows have been inserted. On the upper storey, there are three closely spaced 4-pane horned sash windows in the center of the elevation. Additionally, three later gabled dormers also contain similar windows. The left gable end includes a small inserted window on the lower storey and a replacement window above it. At the back, there is an added lean-to with 20th-century details. The lower 1½-storey rear wing is also made of rubble stone, featuring a renewed slate roof and a central stone ridge stack. This wing has three half dormers with 4-pane horned sash windows, and the lower storey contains three 4-pane sash windows that replaced mid-20th-century steel-framed windows. At the left end of the rear wing, there is a boarded door with an overlight.
Inside, the original hall on the right side features a cambered timber fireplace lintel inscribed 'O HM 1688' (for Hugh and Martha Owen). The former parlour on the left side has a chamfered timber fireplace lintel set on stone jambs, although this lintel may be reused, as its stops suggest it was originally part of a wider opening. The main range has cross beams with ogee stops, and one room in the rear wing contains a spine beam with similar detailing.
