Description
Tan y Graig is an early 19th-century cottage, possibly with an earlier core. It stands two-and-a-half storeys tall, constructed of rubble under a medium-pitched slate roof. The cottage features large end stacks with simply moulded capping and weather coursing, along with a central 20th-century two-pane skylight.
The symmetrical facade has three windows and is stuccoed, with a central recessed entrance that is stepped up. The entrance includes a contemporary five-panel door, with the upper rectangular panel being glazed. The ground floor has contemporary twelve-pane sash windows, while the first floor features later 19th-century eight-pane sashes. All windows have projecting slate cills. There are two small gabled dormers in the attic, each with twelve-pane sashes and plain bargeboards, and a plain bargeboard is present on the northwest gable.
At the rear, there is a small late 19th-century addition that is raised against the steep incline of the hill, forming a double-pile with the original house. This addition is pebble-dashed and has a plain brick stack at the rear, along with a simple twelve-pane canted bay window on the northwest side. The gable also features a plain bargeboard. The garden at the rear is enclosed by rubble walls and borders the curve of the lane to the northeast.
