Description

Bryn Hyfryd, also known as the International Schizophrenia Centre, is a building featuring a 2+1-window scribed stucco front with a later advanced and gabled cross range to the left. It has slate roofs and stone chimney stacks with arched panels at the ends, along with wide bracket eaves. A cill band on the first floor of the cross range is obscured on the right by a ground floor lean-to extension that extends forward to the level of the cross range. The building has small pane sash windows on the right and tripartite windows in the ground floor extension, which also includes additional twinned and sash windows. There is a narrow entrance in the angle to the left and a two-storey played bay on the cross range, featuring a panelled apron and casement windows.

The main entrance is located on the right-hand gable end and includes arched headed windows, a small pane sash window in the attic, and a casement window on the first floor. Below, there are blocked windows flanked by a Victorian crenellated porch with chamfered angles and a segmental headed entrance. The entrance features a six-panel part-glazed door with a fanlight and Tudor labels over the side windows. Small pane windows are present on the left end and rear, mostly sash. The property is enclosed by a high rubble revetment garden wall.

To the right, there are cast iron railings with spearhead finials and Gothic panelled iron gate piers leading to the garden, as well as similar railings at the front with stone piers.

Inside, the building retains an ornate plaster cornice in the entrance hall, six-panel doors, and panelled shutters, among other features.
