Refail Isaf including adjoining Pig Sty

Refail Isaf is a one-and-a-half storey, two-unit former farmhouse that includes an adjoining byre and pig sty positioned at right angles to the front. The building is constructed of whitened rubble, with the main house section resting on boulder foundations. It features a continuous slate roof with end chimneys; the chimney on the right is made of rubble, while the left is a Victorian brick rebuild. The entrance, located near the center, has a 20th-century boarded door with a narrow rectangular overlight above it. On either side of the entrance are single late 19th-century six-pane (unhorned) sash windows, which are recessed and have projecting sills. The upper floor windows break the eaves and are set within gabled dormers that have simple bargeboards.

The adjoining byre section on the left has three entrances at the front, each with boarded doors. The rear of the building is roughcast and features a catslide outshut to the left, which was raised in the 1970s. There are modern windows and an entrance on the right return. A similar six-pane casement window is located on the main block to the right, with a boarded entrance beyond that has an exposed timber lintel. To the right, there is a 20th-century wooden and corrugated iron garage addition that is stepped down from the main facade.

On the left side, adjoining at right angles to the front, is a simple 19th-century rubble pig sty with a slated roof and tiled ridge, which has an opening at the front. Running parallel to the road and flush to the west of the pig sty is a low rubble forecourt wall. The interior of the building was not inspected during the survey.
