Description

Nos. 1 & 2 Bodarborth

Crazed rubble stone with slate roofs and paired brick stacks, one each end and one to ridge of parallel rear wing. T-plan front range, two-storeys, picturesque estate cottage style. Three-window front with centre gabled projection including recessed porch and window above. Windows were all attractive iron-traceried mullion-and-transom type, surviving on left and centre (No 2), those to right have lost the iron tracery. Tracery is in elongated hexagons with lozenge row between. Stone voussoirs and slate sills. Centre porch has elliptical arch and half-glazed door within. Patterned tracery to overlight. Window above is set in arched recess. Chimneys have red brick bases stepped to paired diagonally-set shafts with nogged brick cornices.

Addition to No 1 is set back, rendered to front, slate-hung to side, one-window range with brick right end stack. 4-pane sash above, half-glazed door and overlight below. Iron porch-veranda in angle of a single broad bay with curved angle brackets and low cast-iron rail above.

Not inspected. Stairs said to have square balusters, on cut string with shaped brackets. Marble mantels. Wide-boarded doors in rear wing.
