Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Bodarborth are two-storey estate cottages built in a picturesque style, featuring crazed rubble stone walls and slate roofs. They have paired brick stacks, one at each end and one on the ridge of the parallel rear wing. The front range is T-shaped with three windows, including a central gabled projection that has a recessed porch and a window above. The windows are of an attractive iron-traceried mullion-and-transom type, with the left and centre windows (in No. 2) retaining their iron tracery, while the right windows have lost it. The tracery design includes elongated hexagons with a lozenge row in between, and the windows have stone voussoirs and slate sills.
The central porch features an elliptical arch and a half-glazed door, with patterned tracery in the overlight. The window above is set in an arched recess. The chimneys have red brick bases that step up to paired diagonally-set shafts, topped with nogged brick cornices.
An addition to No. 1 is set back, rendered at the front and slate-hung on the side, consisting of a one-window range with a brick stack at the right end. It has a 4-pane sash window above, with a half-glazed door and overlight below. There is an iron porch-veranda at the angle of a single broad bay, featuring curved angle brackets and a low cast-iron rail above.
The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported that the stairs have square balusters on a cut string with shaped brackets, and there are marble mantels and wide-boarded doors in the rear wing.
