Description
The coach house and wash house at Bryn Deulyn is a 2-storey building that is connected at the corner to a single-storey stable range, forming an L-shape. The structure is made of roughly coursed and dressed slate slabs, topped with a slate roof that features a purple brick integral end stack on the left side, complete with slate drips.
The coach house and wash house has a 4-panel half-glazed door located to the left of the center, accompanied by a 6-paned window on the left and boarded double doors on the right. On the first floor, there are two tall 16-paned eaves windows at the front. A single-storey lean-to is present on the left gable end, while the right gable end features external straight-flight steps leading up to a boarded door on the first floor. The stables, which are attached at right angles to the lean-to, include a stable door with a central hinge on the left and a pair of possibly later doors on the right.
Inside, the original features of the wash house remain largely intact. The plain joists and first-floor boards are exposed to the ground-floor ceiling. There is a copper, a grate, and a bread oven with a cast-iron door set into the chimney breast, along with a spit rack and shelf above; however, the panelling on the back wall is a later addition. The stables are divided into two sections by a flush plank partition made from former sleepers, with a brick floor in the right section.
