Description
Ty Du is a linear range that includes a lofted two-window cottage, a two-storey two-window wing on the right, and a single-storey cartshed and three-unit cowhouse on the left. The building is constructed of rubble masonry and is limewashed. It features a roof made of small old slates that are heavily grouted, with a large stack at the right gable and stone copings; the agricultural range has a roof made of profiled material.
The oldest part of the range is the lofted cottage, which has a central doorway flanked by windows, and small paned, horizontally sliding sash windows in hipped roofed dormers that break the eaves line. The two-window wing has a doorway to the left, beneath a four-pane first-floor light, while the ground floor window to the right is now blocked with brick. To the left of the cottage is a wide cartbay door, accompanied by a massive pyramidal buttress on the left; next to the buttress is the three-unit cowhouse.
The interior of the range could not be easily viewed for safety reasons, but it retains a massive bressumer above an inglenook fireplace in the wing on the right.
