Description
The boiling house at Tyddyn Isaf is a lofted structure built from rubble masonry, featuring mortar that is widely slobbered. It has a slate roof with tiled coping and a rectangular dressed stone stack with capping at the right (west) gable. The ground floor includes large stone lintels over the openings, with a doorway on the left and a 12-pane hornless sash window with a slate sill on the right. There is also a small window on the right, located under the eaves, and access to the loft is provided by an external flight of stone steps at the left (east) gable.
This boiling house was used for cooking until the mid-20th century. Inside, it retains a large inglenook with a massive bressumer at the west end, with the hob and oven located to the right (north) of a stone pier, which previously had a boiler to the left.
