Description
Capel Mwd (Capel Newydd) is a simple Georgian chapel and attached cottage, built in the 18th century. The chapel is a two-storey structure with two window openings, constructed from rubble masonry with roughcast rendered walls. It features a grouted slate roof with tiled coping. The west side has a lateral entry, which previously included a central pair of upper windows flanked by outer boarded doors leading up steps; however, the top part of the front wall has collapsed, obscuring the original openings. The rear elevation has two lower window openings, and there is a single window opening in the south gable apex.
Attached to the north gable is a lower two-storey cottage, also built of rubble masonry, with a roof made of small old slates and grouted. The entrance elevation faces west and includes a single small upper window opening and a doorway to the right. There is one window opening on each floor at the rear, located at the north end.
Inside, the chapel features an open timber roof with three bays supported by braced king-post trusses.
