Description

Walker Todd of Dick Peddie and Walker Todd, 1935, 2-storey, asymmetrical, L-plan police station with classical details; principal block at corner. Snecked cream sandstone rubble with polished ashlar dressings. Ashlar plinth incorporating ground floor window cills, rusticated quoins and band course to principal block, moulded eaves course, cornice, architraved doorpieces with cornice to N and E entrance to station, bipartite and tripartite windows with stone mullions.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: doorpiece to outer right of 3 slightly recessed bays at right, tripartite window to left, 3 windows at 1st floor, 2 broad slightly advanced bays to left of centre with bipartite windows at ground with plaque between. 2 windows at 2st floor. Single storey wing to outer right, 2 small windows with bars (former cell block).

E (SIDE) ELEVATION: 5 symmetrical bays to principal block with doorpiece to centre, regular fenestration. Recessed lower 2 storey, 2 bays to far left (formerly sergeants quarters) composed of 2 doors with windows at 1st floor, slightly advanced bay to outer left with full-height advanced chimney wall breaking eaves with moulded base to tall corniced stack.

S (REAR) ELEVATION: 2-bay harled return to lower wing, single storey canted window to left, bipartite windows to right and breaking eaves at 1st floor.

12-pane sash and case windows to ground floor, 9-pane to sash and case to 1st floor. Green slate piended roof with swept eaves.
