275 High Street, Linlithgow

275 High Street in Linlithgow is an early 19th-century former town house that stands as a substantial three-storey building with an attic and three bays. It is constructed from cream sandstone rubble, with harled sides and rear. The exterior features include a base course, a lintel course above the third-floor windows, a cornice, a blocking course, and raised margins around the ground and second-floor windows.

The north elevation, which serves as the entrance, presents three nearly symmetrical bays. The door is located on the outer right, flanked by a window in the center and another on the left. There are blocked windows at the ground and first floor on the outer left. The first floor has three windows with ashlar cills that display a carved lozenge pattern, while the second floor has three windows, with the one on the outer left spaced widely apart.

The west side elevation features a harled gabled return that faces St John's Road. The north rear elevation includes a two-storey wing with two doors leading to Nos 18 and 20 St John's Road.

The building has 12-pane sash and case windows, grey slate roofing with ashlar coped skews, and broad harled stacks at the gables. There are also two modern dormers added in 1990, which have rounded angles.

Inside, there are remnants of a range at the ground floor, and the first-floor room to the north features a coved ceiling with a cornice and a decorative centerpiece.
