Description
The Black Bitch Hotel, located at 12-14 West Port in Linlithgow, is a hotel that incorporates two houses.
Number 12 is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house that is rendered and lined to resemble ashlar and is painted. The south elevation features four bays at the ground level, with a central doorpiece that has a cornice and two-leaf boarded doors. There is one window to the right and two windows to the left of the door. The first floor has three symmetrically arranged windows. The building has modern glazing, a red pantiled roof, ashlar coped skews, and chimney stacks at the gables.
Number 14 is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey and attic, three-bay house that is painted with a bull-faced finish. The south elevation has a central door flanked by windows, with two bipartite windows on the first floor. The windows are plate glass sash and case. The building features a mansard roof with two bipartite dormers, ashlar coped skews, and rendered chimney stacks at the gables.
