Description
The District Council Offices at 67 and 69 Glasgow Road in Dumbarton are earlier 19th century buildings that were originally two adjoining houses. Each house is two stories tall with an attic and features three narrow bays and a central door. The buildings have been combined into one house, with the left door now glazed. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar with decorative dressings.
The ground floor openings are corniced, and there are pilastered doorpieces along with one canted ground floor window. The windows feature 8-pane sashes set in architraves. The building has an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course. There are two canted dormers with curved roofs. The original chimney stacks have been removed, and a modern brick stack now rises from a small boiler house on the west side. The roof is covered with piended slate.
