Description
Drumoyne is a 2-storey, 3-bay villa designed by architect J T Rochead and built in 1853. The building features an asymmetrical design with Tudor-Gothic arched openings and is constructed from stugged ashlar with polished dressings.
On the north elevation, a staircase with a balustrade topped with ball finials leads to a roll-moulded and hoodmoulded doorway located in the left bay. The door is recessed and has vertical panels. The central bay contains a single window that retains its original glazing, while the other windows have either plate glass or 4-pane glazing. The right bay features tripartite windows in a gabled section, with a canted design and a felt tile roof at the ground level, and a tall central light positioned below a plaque in the gable head above. The remaining bays have gabled wall-head dormers, projecting eaves, cut-down end stacks, and a slate roof.
The south elevation also consists of 3 bays, with an off-centre low, piended scullery projecting to the south. There is a later addition of a projecting 4-light bay on the ground floor to the left, and a stepped 3-light leaded stair window with a taller central light in the gabled central bay. The outer bays have wall-head dormers with a roof that sweeps over them.
Inside, the villa features panelled doors, turned wooden stair balusters, decorative cornice plasterwork, and ceiling roses. The southwest ground floor room includes a pedimented chimney-piece and ceiling paper with an anthemion pattern.
