Millburn Mill, Luss

Late 18th century with mid 19th century alterations. Range comprising single storey and attic 4-bay cottage with adjoining 2-storey and 3-storey 4-bay mill on falling ground. Rubble with painted rubble for house.

MILL: S (MAIN) ELEVATION: 2 and 3-storey mill building; boarded machinery door to outer right; windows at ground and 1st floor in bay to right of centre. Symmetrical bays to left (later addition), windows at principal floor with small lights directly under eaves.

W GABLE: openings symmetrically disposed at centre; boarded door at ground, hoist door above; small window; apex stack.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-bay, some alterations, blocked doors and windows; wheel outshot, ruined, part of wheel shaft extant. Grey slate roof, lead flashings. Raggle of former gable at centre,(built over former window, now blocked and visible); window to left of raggle. Portion of wing remains, painted rubble , flat corrugated roof, boarded door.

Lying-pane glazing. Graded grey slate roof (continuous with house); lead flashings. Low rubble apex stack.

HOUSE: single storey and attic, 4-bay cottage; white washed rubble, painted margins. Lean-to porch, flanking windows at ground and further window to left. Gabled dormerheaded windows.

4-pane timber sash and case windows. Graded grey slate roof. Low painted stacks with red sandstone coping, clay cans.
